Lucknow: Priyanka Maurya, a member of the state women's commission, reported receiving prank calls from unidentified individuals who requested her personal information. She filed a complaint at the Krishnanagar police station, accusing the callers of impersonating key governmental officials. The alleged impostors claimed to be associated with the chief minister's principal secretary and the DM of Unnao. Priyanka suspected that political opponents were behind the spoofing attempts to malign her reputation. An investigation has been launched based on her complaint. The incidents occurred on Sept 9 and Sept 30, with the callers posing as officials and demanding personal details under the guise of assigning her a significant role. Priyanka took the matter seriously and reported it to the authorities, resulting in the registration of an FIR and an ongoing inquiry led by DCP Keshav Kumar from the South Zone.
